Getting into Racing
Swim Meets give swimmers the opportunity to put into practice all those things the coach has been training them to do. For many swimmers, the swim meets are the ‘fun’ bit of swimming.
There are 3 main types of meets that you might be involved in.
-
Club Meets
-
Interclub Meets
-
Regional and National Meets
Initially, we suggest taking part in a Ready to Race session and then a Need4Speed. If you're unsure which meets to enter into, please ask your coach for advice.

SwimZone Racing Club works alongside SwimZone coaching business, providing swimmers with the ability to compete in swimming as a sport - catering to children from 8 years and up.
An outline of our squads can be found below, full details can be found on the SwimZone website.
Our Squads
Aqua Kids
Our Aquakids programme has 4 ability-based squads. They are designed to develop correct technique and endurance. After completing the Aquakids programme, swimmers will be proficient in all 4 strokes, competitive dives and turns, and have a basic understanding of swimming rules and principles.
Mini Squads
These groups emphasise endurance, perfecting technique and mastering competitive starts and turns. Swimmers will start as club members and enter Timezone and local meets to gain experience, develop friendships, resilience and confidence as a swimmer. They can then progress further into competitive swimming and become full competitive members of the club, aim to qualify for regional meets and prepare to enter one of the competitive squads.
Competitive Squads
Our competitive squads range from 10-18 years, most start out in our top junior squad and are aiming to develop their potential as a competitive swimmer. Some of our swimmers have achieved national records and aim to move into elite level swimming.
